English Welsh & Scottish Railways (EWS) are the largest railway operator in the UK. It was announced in June 2007 that Deutsche Bahn AG plan to take over ownership of EWS.
EWS last year was divided into 4 separate camps to enable the company to focus more on the needs of it's customers
EWS Network - dedicated to the movement of containers and logistics. Operations are based from Doncaster, South Yorkshire
EWS Energy - dedicated to the movement of coal and other fuels for the energy sector. Operations are based from Knottingley, West Yorkshire
EWS Industrial - dedicated to the movement of heavy raw materials, such as metals and petroleum products for British Industry
EWS Construction - dedicated to the movement of aggregate, construction materials and Waste
