First Engineering, now part of the Babcock International Group, is a provider of multi-disciplinary rail infrastructure services.
The Track Renewals division is based at Glasgow Salkeld Street, and has the contract for plain line renewal and tamping for Network Rail in Scotland.
First Engineering has invested in a fleet of modern On Track Plant machines, which are based at Rutherglen Depot.
There are also depots at Portobello, Beattock and Shettleston.
First Swietelsky is a joint venture between First Engineering Ltd and Swietelsky GmbH of Austria, which has high output track renewal contracts with Network Rail in England.
