Welcome to scot-rail.co.uk, Scotland's online railway community. The group is for any rail enthusiast interested in the railways and trains of Scotland. It not only consists of the wiki that you're reading now, but a busy online forum and mailing list, which is accessible to anyone who registers. I am pleased to announce that FirstGroup has purchased scot-rail.co.uk. I have been in discussions with FirstGroup over the past few weeks to arrange the purchase and ensure that you, the scot-rail.co.uk members, will not suffer because of this. The purchase will however see a number of changes over the coming months.
Staffing
scot-rail.co.uk will now become a full time job for myself and I will continue to have full control over the site. There will also be a second part time position available and a number of short term positions to help cover when I'm on holiday.
Website address
Our new website address will be first.scot-rail.co.uk where you will find a few cosmetic changes. Your normal username and password will of course continue to work and there's no need to re-register.
Editorial control
I will have editorial control over scot-rail.co.uk and will report directly to Moir Lockhead
Future plans
Over the coming months I am hoping to make some changes to the site as I will now be able to develop full time. The most significant is that I have arranged access to TRUST, TOPS and GEMINI so I will be working to build a web based front end for the system that members will be able to access. Unfortunately due commercial concerns, this will be limited to First Group services (First ScotRail, First TransPennine Express, First Greater Western, First Capital Connect, Hull Trains and GBRf).
