Cambrian Rly No 36
Description:
Cambrian rly No 36 at Morfa Mawddach. A rebuild of ex Metropolitan rly 4-4-0T purchased in 1905 (Beyer Peacock 426/1864). It was rebuilt to 4-4-0 tender type at the Cambrian's Oswestry Works in October 1916 (another, Cambrian 34 had been similarly converted two years' previously; the other four remained tank engines). When the GWR took over in 1922 it was lying at Machynlleth with a broken crank pin and was withdrawn in May the same year without carrying its allotted GWR number 1114. Info courtesy of ScotRail members Robin Barnes and David Rhodes (thankyou).
