Coaching Stock Chaos
Description:
The weekend before the Jacobite service's return to operation sees 47245 leading Black 5 no. 45212 and a short rake of CDL fitted MK2s through Holytown as 5Z12 Carnforth - Crainlarich, then onwards to Fort William's TNF depot the following day. West Coast Railways have been facing a health and safety dilemma over the use of Mark 1 and 2 coaches that are not fitted with central door locking, and being unable to secure the exemption to allow these coaches to be used from the ORR and DfT which temporarily suspended operation of the service. The Jacobite is due to start up again effective April 15th with the replacement stock and with a limited timetable for the foreseeable future, as WCR continue to negotiate to reinstate the exemption to allow them to use the original coaching stock once again should that ever comes to pass.
