New Dunblane Down Main TWPS Overspeed Aerial pair for trains that will crossover to the Up Main.
Description:
New Dunblane Down Main TWPS Overspeed Aerial pair for trains that will crossover to the Up Main. If the new DB49 signal is at red and the train passes between these two grids in a faster time that that allocated for that location (the grid spacing is set by what the expected maximum speed for that location approaching a red is) it triggers the brakes in the train unless the driver thinks it is fault and over-rides it in their cab. If the BRAKE DEMAND IS LIT in the cab TPWS panel it cannot be over-ridden until contact is made with the signaller and their Control who will instruct if the stopped train over-ride button can be pressed. An activation of TPWS will be recorded in the train's data 'black box' whose files are regularly downloaded and if the driver hasn't followed the correct reporting procedure then they face severe disciplinary action especially if the train was going too fast and the automatic braking fails to stop it before the signal, overshoots and results in a SPAD. Another pair of aerials end to end will be fitted to be located at the signal in a position so it is the under the train's TPWS transponder unit. The joint box for this pairing is on the P.1 upstand wall. I am astonished at the condition of the footbridge after only a few years - if only those 'Legacy' latticework, non-steel, OLE Compliant footbridges / lift shafts had been designed and available as an option when this work was done? 19.05.23
