Since introduction in 1999, the First ScotRail Class 170 Turbostar units have been operating on routes from Edinburgh Waverley, Glasgow Queen Street, and between Inverness and Aberdeen. A present they are not cleared to run north of Inverness, on the West Highland Line or on many routes out of Glasgow Central.
