Class 170 "Turbostars"
First ScotRail currently operate a fleet of 59 Class 170 "Turbostars", all based at Haymarket Depot in Edinburgh.
Class 170 Express Pool
The Class 170 Express Pool are mainly used to operate services between Glasgow Queen Street, Edinburgh, Inverness and Aberdeen. These units have First Class at each end of the unit. They can also end up on other routes due to failures or disruption. All these units bear the First ScotRail livery except 170434 which is in the new blue Scotrail Livery.

Class 170 Buffet Pool
First Scotrail also have four former Hull Trains' Turbostars. These have been revinyled into First ScotRail livery. These units have a buffet bar and are usually found on Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street to Inverness services.
Class 170 Suburban Pool
There are twelve suburban units and these only have standard class accommodation. The units operate Fife local services as well as Edinburgh to Newcraighall, Bathgate and Dunblane services. They will sometimes find there way on to express services during disruption to services. They are all in First ScotRail livery.Class 170 SPT Pool
Finally, First ScotRail operate a pool of nine Class 170s on behalf of SPT. These tend to be found on Glasgow Queen Street to Stirling/Dunblane and Cumbernauld/Falkirk Grahmston services. However, they do turn up on some of the suburban diagrams out of Edinburgh. SPT liveried 170s often work to Perth and will occasionally stable overnight there. They are all in SPT livery, although there are two variants with 170470 and 170471 in an older version. These SPT liveried 170s can also can be seen on the Glasgow to Aberdeen route occasionally.
