ScotRail (previously known as First ScotRail) is the main rail passenger franchise in Scotland, First Group is the current HOLDER OF THE FRANCHISE. The franchise runs from 17th October 2004 for seven years until 2011. A three year extension has now been added to the franchise and it is now due to finish in November 2014.
ScotRail operate a fleet of 251 multiple units as well as sleeper trains which are hauled by DB Schenker locomotives.
